Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Designed for Dert
DERT works with emerging designers to create unique, customized books. Each DERT book features the design and conceptual artwork created by graphic design students. DERT's collaborative studio program partners with students at art schools to produce book products that are used for fundraising towards charitable literacy efforts.
The design concept is based on fluid movement as well as physical and metaphorical representations of journey. The medium of watercolor is free flowing which reflects the freedom vessel that was the Mississippi River. The water flow is a catalyst in both the paint and the river. The graphics show the distance Huck and Jim physically and mentally were willing to go to find salvation.
